January 2026 - A new year and a new term!
13th Feb 2026
The class have settled back in very well and made a strong, positive start to Term 2. Here are some of the activities we have been up to:
- Maths: We sliced and diced numbers through fractions and decimals, including comparing, ordering and applied them to problem-solving activities.
- SESE: The class compared life in Ancient Greece to life today, identifying similarities and differences in homes, education, food and culture. The children loved researching Greek mythology and their associated Gods.
- Science: We designed, built and tested Greek-inspired catapults, and investigated which design launched objects the greatest distance through teamwork and experimentation.
- Gaeilge: A whole-class Tráth na gCeist got the children buzzing 'as Gaeilge' - building their oral language and team collaboration skills.
- Wellbeing, Intercultural & Diversity Week: This was a great hit and all the students really enjoyed discussing friendship, inclusion and anti-bullying. They got the chance to help their Senior Infant buddies to create Chinese lanterns and clay heart tiles.
- SPHE: We started the Stay Safe programme, and the children are learning important lessons about personal safety and wellbeing. This will continue through to the end of February.
It’s been a busy and positive start to the term. Stay tuned for our next update!
