How do I improve my own English as a parent?

A useful website for parents to practise English literacy skills: – This website has practical literacy skills for adults in the topics of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Word Grammar, Sentence Grammar and Speaking and Listening.  

How do I support my child to learn English?

Join the local library with your child – they can borrow up to 12 books at a time

There are dual language books available on – you can get books in your native language with the English translation on the same page.

Watching television in English will help improve his/her understanding of the language – This is also available via an app  

There are lots of computer based interactive games available; the following are some useful websites – a really cool website for learning vocabulary  – lots of games to practise sentence building – your child can read comics online while listening to the audio, there are also games, quizzes, trivia, puzzles and reading resources available. – lots of songs and rhymes for younger children – lots of online games for vocabulary learning.
