History
In early 2003, a group of parents from the Rush/Lusk area met with the Educate Together organization to establish an Educate Together school in the area. Their primary tasks at the outset were to locate suitable premises for the school and seek recognition from the Department of Education. After an extensive search and dedicated efforts by the Rush and Lusk Educate Together Association, the Scout Den in Kenure Park became the first location for the school.
The school officially opened its doors on September 1, 2003, in Rush, initially enrolling 24 students and employing two teachers. In March 2004, the school relocated to Hanna's Avenue, where it continued to grow and develop in a serene, rural environment. By the end of August 2008, the school moved once more, to its current site. Presently, the school operates from a temporary purpose-built facility provided by the Department of Education and Skills. Construction has commenced on the new permanent school building, which will be situated on the current site and will house all classes, including two classrooms for children with Additional Needs in Autism. It is expected to be completed in Autumn 2023.
The journey from the initial idea and dream of establishing a new school to a thriving school community involved numerous challenges and changes. This transformation was made possible through the commitment, support, assistance, and belief of all those involved along the way. The school has been exceptionally fortunate to grow with the active involvement of a dedicated and hardworking staff, parents, and students. The current state of the school is a testament to their continuous enthusiasm and support.
Acknowledgment is also due to the previous Boards of Management, particularly during the school's early years, for their tireless voluntary dedication and countless hours of planning. Their contributions were immeasurable in shaping the school's success.
